A windswept pine, its branches reaching far past the edge of a cracked ceramic pot, raised on a tall wooden plant stand. It is the quiet counterpart to a cherry tree in bloom: no flowers, just needles and bare wood.

🌲 What you build

The trunk twists out of the pot and carries clusters of needles assembled one layer at a time. The pot is cut in the Chinese crackle-glaze style, and the stand beneath it is a piece of miniature furniture in its own right, with fretwork panels on each side. The wood is dyed before cutting, so there is nothing to paint.

• Made to be finished in one sitting: the maker counts one hour, which makes it a good first model or a gift for someone who has never built one.

• Slots together: like the rest of the Rolife bonsai range, it assembles without glue.
